A reconstructed flag of Viking King Knud the Great.
Old Norse "Hrafnsmerki"(Raven-Banner) was a flag flown in battle by many Chieftains, Kings and rulers in the Viking Age. One story goes that a white flag was woven with no visible figures on it. However, in times of war a raven could be seen on it. If King Knud the great and the Danes were destined to win the battle, they would see the raven with beak open and flapping its wings. If they were to loose the battle, the raven would sit there motionless. Can you see the raven?
This flag is a reconstruction of what the original banner may have looked like. Designed in Denmark, the homeland of the Great King Knud. May this bring you great victory as it did him!
