Viking Seax • Long Seax • Historically Accurate Viking Knife
Step into the Viking Age with this replica Seax, a historically accurate Long Seax inspired by archaeological finds from Birka, Hedeby, and Gokstad, three of the most important Norse cultural centers of the early Middle Ages. This blunt, reenactment-ready version is engineered specifically for Viking living history, combat training, and museum-quality display.
The seax, or “sax,” was the essential blade of the Germanic and Viking world from the 1st–11th centuries. Found in graves across Scandinavia Continental Germanic Europe and the British Isles, the Viking Seax served as both a practical daily tool and a warrior’s status symbol.
This replica long seax made by the worlds top blacksmiths in the Czech Republic is crafted from hardened spring steel for durability and safe reenactment use. Although its blade is blunt for combat training, its profile, balance, and construction closely follow the archaeological originals. The leather-wrapped grip offers a secure hold, just as historic seaxes often featured handles of wood, bone, or antler.
