In the Prose Edda, the story is told of how Thor entered a drinking competition in the hall of Útgarða-Loki. Thor was given a drinking horn full of mead and with all his might, he could only drink a few drops. It turns our that the horn was magically joined to the ocean and Thor's efforts had drained the sea resulting in a low tide!
