A book like this on the Germanic religion has not existed before. It is a focus on the historical literary sources and archeology and was written for anyone who wishes to understand the true religious beliefs of the ancient Germanic peoples. Whether you're here out of historical interest, spiritual pursuit, cultural identity, or personal curiosity, what you’ll find is a grounded, reliable, presentation of the sources on the religion of pre-Christian Northern Europe, with minimal interpretations from myself or other scholars where clarification is needed.

Chapter One introduces the Germanic peoples and Norse culture, clarifying how they are related and where their beliefs overlap and diverge. This chapter also explores the source material used throughout this book.

Chapter Two dives even deeper—into the foundations of religious belief itself. Many scholars and spiritual people fail to incorporate this aspect of the study of religion. The truth is that ancient and primitive religions were not all that different. Many times, completely unrelated cultures share the exact same beliefs no matter how much time or distance separates them. By understanding how ALL pre-Monotheistic cultures thought, we get a more complete understanding of how they viewed the world.

Chapter Three focuses on the gods of the Norse and broader Germanic pantheon. Odin, Thor, Freyja, Tyr, and others are covered through their attested sources, their linguistic roots, and even their possible evolution from earlier Indo-European deities. This is the longest chapter of the book.

Chapter Four continues by covering other major deities and divine beings: dísir, valkyries, norns, land-spirits and more. These are not lesser figures. They were often more important in personal and familial religious life than the gods themselves.

These 4 chapters conclude Volume 1 on the gods, deities, spirits and the beliefs practicing them. Volume 2 will be released in 2026 and will focus on the actual practice of the religion and its rituals, traditions & magic.
