Brisingamen Baltic Amber Freya Necklace-Premium Extra Long & Large Beads
Brisingamen Baltic Amber Freya Necklace-Premium Extra Long & Large Beads
Brisingamen Amber Necklce
This item is based on the goddess Freya's necklace "Brísingamen" from Norse Mythology. Old Norse brísingr, being a poetic term for "fire" or "amber" is mentioned many times in the old sources as one of the most prized possessions of the gods. Modern Lithuania, where these beads are sourced, was a close trading partner of Scandinavia from the viking age to the bronze age more than 3000 years ago.
Authentic Baltic Amber Beads
Unlike most amber beads that you will find online which are usually 10" baby teething products, our full sized adult necklaces are sourced from the baltic region which is renowned for its high-quality, fossilized amber that’s older, denser, and more vibrant than amber found elsewhere. Also, as opposed to the standard amber hue color, our beads also consist of deep honey, cherry, or cognac shades, which are harder to find and more valuable. Additionally, our amber beads are hand selected for quality and color and more than double the size of typical beads(6-10cm) making the necklace approximately 32" long.
Viking Beads for Spirituality
Additionally, This necklace is large enough to function as what is known as "Mala Beads" from Eastern spirituality. Mala beads are used for meditation. Instead of focusing on counting repetitive chants, the beads are meant for passing through your fingers each time a verse is recited so you can disappear into the trance. These come in 108 beads as is traditional in Eastern religion. Some of the Scandinavian amber necklaces from the bronze to viking age that can be found in museums also consist of 108 beads(108 being 12x9- a sacred number in the Norse beliefs.)
