This Armring is designed based on numerous archaeological finds from the Baltic countries. These are dated to the mid-Viking Age and believed to have arrived in the East through trade and settlement from Scandinavia. This is due to the two zoomorphic heads that were were very common designs from Scandinavia at the time.
Armrings were some of the most valuable items in the Viking Age and the most attested pieces of jewelry in the old literature. They were used for multiple purposes such as gift giving, swearing oaths, payment and even in religious rituals.
